FAQs

Is it complicated to use?

If your crew can send a text they can use FTR.

Starting a timesheet is just three clicks.

What if someone forgets to clock out?

They should just clock out when they remember and leave a note on their timesheet. An Admin can edit/tidy it later.

Staff can only start and stop their timesheets in real-time, but there is an optional setting to allow them to record any times they wish.

Can it auto start/stop timesheets when staff enter or leave a work-site?

No. For two reasons.

Geo-location is pretty accurate but not perfect, and many of our customers work on jobs in apartments or on adjacent lots. In FTR, users choose the correct site/job when they start a timesheet.

The other reason we don’t like auto start on a location is because an app constantly looking for a geo-fence will drain the phone battery faster.

Do they need to download and update an app?

No. FTR is a PWA (Progressive Web App) and it works in a browser on phone, tablet, laptop and PC.

We release new features from time time time and they’re applied automatically in the background … nothing for users to do.

Is it complicated or hard to setup?

ForTheRecord is super easy to setup and use, and we’ll help you, for free.

Just add Customers, Sites (jobs), invite your staff onto the app, and you’re away. As quick as 15 minutes for a basic setup.

If you have a large business with many customers / sites / staff / equipment / etc talk with us about importing your data for you.

Besides timesheets what else can it do?

Keep photos and notes linked to jobs, sites, customers, and staff.

Keep documentation in the app.

Basic H&S recording … inductions, incidents, site safety plans … and more.

Staff training and certification records.

Basic leave records.

Does it work offline?

YES. You can start and stop timesheets, and also make photo/note records when offline.

The new data will sync when the user next opens the app while online.

What about battery drain?

Phone battery usage is minimal. It ONLY uses battery and data when the app is being used, or when it’s uploading records created when the user was offline.
